Guru Purnima is celebrated in the full moon day and in the month of July. People celebrate Guru Purnima to worship their Teacher and preacher. This day is celebrated in the memory of great sage Vyasa, the ancient saint who compiled four Vedas. He also wrote Mahabharata and Srimad Bhagavad Gita. Guru Purnima is also called as Vyas Purnima.

In Hindu religion, this day is considered as the most auspicious day. People visit temples and take holy bath. People in this day visit their Guru and teacher and take their blessing for a good future. In some organizations several programs and culture activates take place. Bhajan samarohas and devine occasion’s takes place.

Ashrams, especially celebrate this day in a grand manner. In Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh, people come from various parts of country and take blessings of spiritual leaders. Guru Purnima is also celebrated outside India. In these ashrams, various cultural and traditional activities take place. Spiritual leaders organize satsang to preach their followers the importance of this day.
In many schools across India, celebrate Guru Purnima in form of cultural activities. Children’s offer gifts to their teachers. Great spiritual leaders visit this sacred place in this day.
