Durga Puja in New Zealand is celebrated in the same enthusiasm as it is celebrated in other countries. Hindu Bengalese in New Zealand offer great respect even if they are residing outside India. All the Indian communities here come together along with Bengali brothers and sisters to celebrate Durga Puja and to show how Indian culture is beautiful and colorful.

From the past many years Bengali people are celebrating this Puja and have also formed some organization which conducts Puja and prepare all the arrangements right from preparing pandals and Bengali sweets which are served to the worshippers.

One of the famous organizations which organize Durga Puja in New Zealand is the Wellington Durgoutsav Committee. Some group friends who used to stay in North Palmerstone started the “Sharbojonin” Durga Puja with the support of Wellington Bengali Community and it is also called as the Prantik Durgoutsav Communities.

However, there are only few family who take part in this Puja, but it is fully fun filled as there are some cultural program that are held to entertain the people and also present stage show on Durga Puja. Also there are some sweets serving and people from New Zealand to participate in this occasion, as they like to enjoy the Indian culture and its festival.

The Bengali community in Wellington is growing from time to time and so the number of occasion for Durga Puja has increased. The demand for Durga Puja is increasing as the population of Indian Bengali in New Zealand id growing. It has helped to increase in popularity of Durga Puja in various countries and also in New Zealand.

The main aim of this community is to carry on Durga Puja for longer time and the Indian culture and festival keep spreading all over.
