Durga Puja is now being celebrated all over the world and Canada is not an exceptional. There are many Bengali communities who are residing here and from many years they are celebrating Durga Puja in Canada. The excitement and the preparation is the same and made with great excitement and the exciting thing is people of Canada to participate in this occasion, which makes Indian community out there proud to show off Indian culture and festival.

Durga Puja in Canada is being carried by some organizations which are largely run by Indian Bengalis and one such organization is Edomonto Bengali Association which is celebrating Durga Puja for the last 21 years but not more than 5 days. But these 5 days people truly worship Goddess Durga and come together to get the blessings.

The idol is imported from Kolkata every year along with some Bengali sweets. During the festival there are many cultural activities that take place which includes stage shows and dance shows. In the stage show there are stories Goddess Durga which are taken place.

There are different types of food items that are prepared for the people, which include Ilish maach, green jackfruit, Khichuri, sabji etc. Sweets that are served include rosho-malai, doi, sandesh and many other Bengali sweets.

Many young contributors too come together to volunteers this Puja. Many girls and boys present their beautiful poems and articles that are related to Durga Puja and later they are published in some of the Canadian Magazine which represents Indian culture.

People of Canadian truly enjoy this festival which makes them to experience the true Indian culture and its festival. They too contribute to the festival enjoying the dance and other cultural activities which makes to participate in the festival.
