On the day of Maha Saptami, there is Sandhi Puja (evening prayer) and Kumari puja (worship of young girls takes place and people offer pushpanjali to Durga idol.

Tripura is the only state in India where its government takes all the essential measures in the time of Durga festival. There is a famous temple called as Ujjayamata temple, where this festival is celebrated and continues to abode the princely state. In Tripura Durga puja is celebrated since the time of Manikya Dynasty.
